Blog #7: Film Fresh

The purpose of this film is to teach the audience what happens to their food before they get to the grocery stores. The audience is anyone interested in what happens to their food before it gets to their stores and people interested in organic farming. The tone is serious since the topic itself is very serious, they present all the facts and the shady practices going on behind the scenes when raising these livestock. The part of the film that stood out to me the most was the part when they showed a McDonald's restaurant over a highway an hour and twenty seconds into the film. This McDonald's is so cool, you can cross the highway from the inside of the building and probably eat over the highway looking down on passing cars. This is probably one of the most American buildings I've ever seen in my life.

This film does a very good job of portraying how certain foods like chicken eggs get to our plates and I like their explanation of how the white spheres you buy at the grocery store are different from the eggs they get on their organic farm. Films like these are important because they show the truth and it's a shame more movies like these aren't made as much anymore. That being said I would be curious to see a newer version of this movie where they can show what has changed if anything in the farming industry. It may be simple and easy for us to ignore the issues regarding the food we eat but it's not better. People need to be aware of what's going on with their food, if not these practices may get worse and worse.
